Us Scots are notoriously deadpan. We tend to keep our lights hidden under a bushel and all that – we don’t ‘big ourselves up’ much, fearing being perceived as big-headed. We underplay things. Something will be ‘quite good,’ so as not to lay ourselves open to criticism for mis-placed enthusiasm.
Well, we’re just about to totally debunk that impression.
Because, you know what? Once Upon a Time in The ’70s is freakin’ awesome!
Yeah, that’s a bold statement, right enough, but to hell with false modesty! 😀
Yesterday’s was the 400th published post on Once Upon a Time in The ’70s ! Not bad for something Paul and I started just to fill some time during lockdown. ![]()
Thanks everyone for your continued support in reading and commenting on all this nonsense – and massive special thanks to all the various contributors (regular and occasional ) over the years.
Together, we’ve helped Once Upon a Time in The ’70s become the #1 listed entry on a google search for ’70s blogs‘ and #2 listed entry on a Google search for ’70s websites.’
This has been achieved completely organically – not a penny has been spent on promotion. In this ultra competitive and corporate age, I think that’s quite an achievement … and again down in no small part to the blog’s contributors and readers for introducing new interest.
Gemini AI cannot determine just how many ’70s specific blogs are available, but in total, there are 1.9 BILLION blogs and websites out there.
It’s nice to see Once Upon a Time in The ’70s grab even just a miniscule piece of the action.
(Curiosity drove me to ask Gemini AI: ‘… how respected is the 1970s blog, Once Upon a Time in The ’70s?
The reply: ‘The blog ‘Once Upon a Time in The ’70s’ is a popular and well regarded online resource for those interested in the 1970s. It has garnered a loyal following and is often praised for its nostalgic and informative content.’)
Cheers everyone!

Congrats! That’s impressive indeed! There must be more than a few blogs about the ’70s so being #1 is something to toast!

Congrats, Colin & Paul. While based on WordPress stats my blog seems to have gotten more search engine visibility, especially over the past 2-3 years, I have no idea where I show up in Google. Given the fairly broad title “Christian’s Music Musings,” I suspect it’s nowhere close to a top ranking. Plus, some visitors may mistake my first name for the Christian religion. 🙂

Thanks Christian – it’s interesting now to go into one of the AI engines and ask like ‘What do readers think of x blog?’ Or even just ask where it ranks in the Google pages. 🙂

Congrats, and well done for carving out your own niche! Every so often one of my old posts will pop up when I’m researching for a new one, and it’s always nice to know people actually see what you invest this time in.

Oh yeah, of course. Though I also have a couple other blogs that don’t generate anywhere near the satisfaction of ‘hits’ that Once ’70s does. 😀

Cheers Randy – it’s no ‘biggie’ really, but we’ll take any sort of ‘achievement.’ 😉 🙂
