I Loved the 1960s & 1970s.

Readers of ‘Once Upon a Time in The ’70s’ may remember from back in the summer, I published a book comprising many of the posts I’ve written for the blog since Paul and I set it up back in 2021. (If you don’t remember, that’s fine – this post will perhaps be a little more fresh and interesting in that case. 😉 )

The book was (still is) called ‘A Space Hopper Killed My Hamster …

Clever title, I thought.

Dumb title, as it worked out!

Yeah, the title, it seems was WAY too clever. So bloody ‘clever’ nobody was / is able to casually stumble across it on Amazon unless they happen to be searching for hamster food or psychopathic manifestations of toys from fifty-five years ago.

So here it is, in revamped form, and containing all the keywords and meta data I can muster- ‘I Loved the 1960s & 1970s: Amusing Baby Boomer Anecdotes.’

Catchy, huh?

And in true Rolling Stones tradition, I’ve added a new, ‘previously unreleased’ chapter to the updated edition.

Also, you know how some bands release exclusive, hand-numbered copies of their LPs? Well, get this … I’ve numbered NONE of the 387 pages in the book. A pretty groovy and niche selling point, I’m sure you’ll agree. 😉😂

Anyway to those who bought the initial ‘Space Hopper’ edition – “Thank You!” You now own a collector’s item. (That said, it’s still on the Amazon platform since I’d lose all the lovely reviews if I killed it off completely.)

And how about the timing of this release – of which you are the first to know?

Christmas is coming! I know, coz turkeys all over the country have been signing up to Slimmer’s World since they saw that chuffin’ Coca Cola ‘Holidays are coming’ television advert a few weeks ago. (September, I think it was.🤣)

Christmas, yeah? Gifts, yeah? It’s a right royal pain in the butt, isn’t it? What to get Granny or Uncle Barney?

I think I’ve just saved you a shed load of stress …

You’re welcome.

  1. it’s a good read Colin! Nice to know I have a collectible! Not nice for you mind you… I know first hand how difficult it is to get any book noticed at all if you self-publish so credit to you for giving it a go

  2. Thanks Dave. My first one, ‘Damp Dogs & Rabbit Wee’ did very well for a self published effort – especially with a miniscule budget for promo.

Bjt times have changed. Without money to burn and a deep understanding of Amazon meta data / algorithm and all that kinda stuff, you’re basically screwed! 😂

  3. Wow, congrats on the book. I guess it’s the equivalent to a deluxe reissue of a music album. Hey, if the Stones and other music artists can do it, so can you! I think the new title may work in your favor. In any case, good luck and congrats again!

  4. Thanks Christian. Finding the time to understand Amazon Ads / algorithms and market a book without throwing money at it is challenging to say the least. Hopefully, as you say, the change of title may help.
