Just fifteen years after Bill Haley and His Comets registered Rock ‘n’ Roll’s first #1 hit, ‘pop’ music exploded worldwide. Fragments formed new, exciting sounds and fashions, while fiercely loyal tribes and subcultures appeared in staunch support of the bands and artists.
Sandwiched between the decade’s bookends of Singer / Songwriter and Post Punk, trends constantly shifted through a plethora of genres: Heavy Rock; Progressive Rock; Country / Southern Rock; Glam Rock; Teenybop; Rockabilly revival; Disco; Funk; Soul; Punk; Electronic; Reggae; 2-Tone; Ska revival, and Yacht Rock.
